So, let’s get started on understanding more about the GACE scoring process!
How Are the GACE Exams Scored?
Let’s first discuss how GACE exams are scored.
The GACE Content Assessments and ASLPI have tiered scoring. Tiered scores are those in which there are different passing rates for two different certification levels. There will be one passing rate for the induction level and a different passing rate for the professional level. For assessments that have more than one subtest, you must pass both subtests to meet the certification requirements.
Your scaled score shows how you did on your GACE assessment or subtest. You’ll also receive a “pass” or “not pass” score.
More information about GACE scoring can be found on the ETS website.
You can also find more in-depth information here about Understanding Your Scores.
What Score Do You Need To Pass the GACE Test?
I’m sure one of your main questions about the GACE scores concerns what score you need to pass. Each exam has its own passing score. We’ll look at what the passing score is on each GACE exam.
The ASLPI has a scaled passing score of 220 for an induction level and a 250 for a professional level.
Certificate Upgrade, Educational Leadership, and Paraprofessional and Program Admissions Assessments all have a scaled passing score of 250.
Content Assessments have a scaled passing score of 220-249 for the induction level and 250 for the professional level.
If your combined exam has multiple subtests and you score at the induction level on one test and the professional level on the other, you will receive the induction level for the entire assessment.
How Long Does It Take To Get GACE Scores?
Once you have taken your GACE exam, you’ll be anxious to receive the results. Let’s look at how long it takes to get your scores.
For GACE exams that have only selected-response questions, your unofficial score will be available to view immediately after completing the GACE. You’ll need to choose “Report your scores” during registration to have access to your unofficial scores immediately after testing. Unofficial scores are not available for GACE tests that consist of a mix of selected and constructed-response questions.
You can read more about GACE Score Reporting Dates on the ETS website.
How Long Do You Have To Wait Before You Can Retake a GACE Exam?
You took the test, you got your results back, but you didn’t pass… If this is the case, you’ll need to retest.
The good news is that you can retest, but there is a waiting period. You will need to wait 30 calendar days after testing before you can retake an exam. If you are retaking the Paraprofessional exam, you can retest 28 days after testing.
While you are waiting to retest, make sure you have access to a GACE study guide to help you pass the GACE. A study guide will provide you with hundreds of practice questions and multiple pages of study material to prepare you to pass your exam.
