After almost two years of bidding, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) awarded the contract for educator candidate assessments in Missouri to the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The process involved thoroughly reviewing vendor proposals and was a collaborative effort between DESE and Educator Preparation Programs.

Who Is Affected By The Switch?

Starting June 23, 2024, anyone looking to be a teacher in Missouri will need to use the Praxis exams to qualify for their certification. You will not be able to take a MEGA exam after June 23rd.

If you already took a MEGA exam prior to the switch, your scores will be valid after the switch takes effect on July 1, 2024.

The only exception is the Elementary Education exams. If you have not completed all MEGA Elementary Education subtests prior to the switch, you will need to complete all 4 of the Praxis (7001) Elementary Education subtests to receive your Elementary Education certification.

When Does the Switch Take Place?

The last day the MEGA exams will be available is June 23, 2024. After June 23rd, you will not be able to take a MEGA exam.

July 1, 2024, is the first day that Praxis exams can be used to qualify for teacher certification in Missouri. If you take an ETS exam before July 1, 2024 you want be able to use that score for certification in Missouri.
